2007 ROMANIA REPORT

2007 TEAM

TEAM WITH THE MAYOR OF CAMPINA

Note:
A retired policeman and former prison guard, under communism, who is now converted to Christ and was instrumental in getting us into some of the prisons went with us as the 'prison doors swing open' to ministry!

PRISON DOORS OPEN

The doors opened and Team 2007 walked in!  Five major prisons in Romania allowed us freedom to tell the "good news"!  A teen prison with boys ages 13-19 was our first encounter.  A maximum security facility and another prison where Richard Wurmbrand, the man tortured by the Communists for 14 years, was held.  Christians were kept in the underground prison here and and many were burned alive for their faith.  It was a humbling experience to even walk on the ground here.  The response we received when the call was given to accept Jesus as Lord would excite any soul winner.  We traveled to another area of Romania and here we were allowed in the woman's prison and another men's facility.  You would feel the hopelessness as you looked on faces void of expression.  However, it was not long before you could see smiles on their faces as they heard the team share personal testimonies of how God can make a difference in your life!  The illustrated messages, performed by the team, were exceptional and so well received as they gave a powerful impact to the prison ministry.  This work was hard on the physical bodies but so rewarding to the spirit!

MINISTRY STATEMENT

There has been an important expansion of ministry in Romania.  We are seeing the Lord lead in three ways.  The prison ministry opened our eyes to the need for helping people before they get into trouble, while they are in trouble and after they get out of trouble.  The Mayor suggested prevention ministry with young people in the schools, assisting with ministry in the prisons and helping with counseling and placement when they get out of prison.  This would help to give those wo dedicate their lives to Christ and want a second chance to be put on the right road of rehabilitation.  We do know that we can touch lives but only Jesus can change lives.  God is putting the plan and the people together.  Marshall of Open Hand is establising businesses to probide jobe and has a counseling ministry all ready in place.  Marius and Roxana are working in the prisons with strong ministry but they need help and guidance.   Pray with us!

CASA SHALOM in Bucharest Romania

What a joy it is to always visit Casa Shalom and we made this our headquarters and base for ministry while in Bucharest.  Becky Dan Walsh, Rodica and  staff had worked very hard with the preparations so we could have effective ministry and reach people.  Our team were able to stay right on site in the three story building and it saved so much time in travel.  There are no words to describe the traffic in Bucharest!  When we arrived at Casa Shalom the children came running with smiles and many hugs!  It is like an oasis of love!

At Casa Shalom we were able to minister to the Christian Policeman and also have a ladies tea that ministered tot he ladies on staff and the older girls.  This was a precious time in the Lord as our tears mingled together as we sought God for His guidance and anointing.  We had time to be with the children there and to give lots of love and listening ears.  They are growing up and many of them are in high school.  It is going on 11 years of the children's home ministry.  The bakery needs to be completed to provide a way of helping with the finances and also t teach our children a trade and work ethics!  When the Day Center is completed many more people will be reached with the message of Jesus.  there are many memorable moments with the children but I asked Maria, (she just turned nine) what she wanted to be when she grew up.  Her answer was a winner!  She said, first I want to be a servant and then may be a missionary.  I quickly said, I thought you were going to run Casa Shalom to which she said, "Oh, that, too, and may be I will be a policeman!!!!!

NEW CAR FOR CASA SHALOM

The work of the Lord is always a team effort.  Some team members are visual and some work behind the scenes but all are vital to the work of God.  Bible Missions want to honor Rodica, the Administrator at Casa Shalom, and thank all those that had a part in buying a vehicle for her to use in all the work she does for the children's ministry at Casa Shalom.  Rodica is and has been a faithful servant working with all the paper work and keeping records for many years.  The new regulations have added to the work load since Romania has joined the European Union!  She wants to give her appreciation, too, for the car!

FORGOTTEN AND PASSED BY

You would think time had stood still since the last visit to the home for older Romanians.  We stayed here a long time for we knew without anyone telling us that it had been a long time since singing had been heard in this place.  There seemed to be more beds placed in every available space.  One little lady remembered me and it was a happy reunion!  We took 'blessing bags' but the BIG hit was the beanie babies.  I thought one lady had been forgotten but I soon found out she had hid it under her pillow.  The friendship (salvation) bracelets were given to all and the story of God's love was told.  It was hard to leave them knowing that for many we would never see them again on this earth!

WORK CONTINUES IN CAMPINA

A visit to the Mayor is always in order and he again told us he would support our efforts in the city.  We went to the high school and the director received us with joy.  He opened up the class room to us and we delivered a strong message.  We visited the hospital and delivered medical supplies and gave beanie babies to the children's ward.  "Open Hand," the drug rehab center was visited.

VISIT TO THE VILLAGE

We are pleased to let you all know that Brother Marin and the little red car continue to be our hands and feet to help and bless those in the remote villages.  He asked that we pray as the Muslims are working hard in the villages to make converts to Islam.  Our visit to Moara Noua always is a highlight!  The children had worked so hard to be able to sing in English for us.

Mihai and Simona did an excellent job in setting up the outreaches in the Campina area.  They have grown so much in God and are being used in many ways with their talents.
